Glow in the Dark Firefly Jars

These are some of the Glow in the Dark - Firefly Charms and Necklaces I make.

The fireflies are carefully handmade by myself out of polystyrene and painted with metallic acrylics. The body of the fireflies have a pearlescent coating, and the wings are a glowing white. The bottles are about 1 inch tall with a real cork stopper securely glued in place.

One of my favorite things about moving to the eastern part of the country was seeing fireflies! I'd never seen anything so cool in my life, a bug that really lights up? I didn't think they would be so bright or so amazing. I was just sad my friends back home couldn't enjoy that kind of magic, so I decided to make some Firefly Jar Charms to spread the summer fun of fireflies, even to those who aren't luckily enough to live in an area that supports them.
